Hey Jud... ika, don't let me down...

... you have found her, now go and get her!

Recently a single by Judika, one of Indonesian Idol last season's big three, has hit the market. It's called "Bukan Rayuan Gombal" (roughly Not an Empty Flattery). Despite a slightly too long (okay, not slightly, it's too long) first line in each verse, I find the song rather nice and memorable. Needless to say, many other Indonesians have an even higher opinion of the song. After all, he's an Idol, something millions of Indonesians dream to be, judging from the long lines at Bandung's Sabuga a few months ago for next season's audition.

However, after listening to the song a few times, I started to feel that some parts of it sound too familiar. After that, it didn't take long to find out the songs this one must be "inspired" by.

And they're from The Beatles! The Fab Four, no less!

Let's see... The chorus of BRG sounds almost exactly like the coda (end part that is repeated until the song fades out) of "Hey Jude". If you've heard the song, it's the part where they chant "Na, na, na, na... Make it true..." Try and listen to it, I've even tried singing the chorus to "Hey Jude"'s tune and vice versa, and it fits perfectly!

Meanwhile, the verses are from "Don't Let Me Down" with a few modifications in - you guessed it - the first line. So to verify the similarities, you need to start at the second line of each song.

I don't think this can be called plagiarism, however. It's just funny how a song can sound so similar to two other...
